1 Sun City Resort: Probably
the most remarkable destination in all Africa
- Sun City - Africa's kingdom of pleasure! This
vast complex, nearly 20 km in circumference,
is an enormous, opulent extravaganza of luxurious
hotels, glittering entertainment centres, restaurants,
shops, discos and extensive, beautifully landscaped
grounds. The complex is rated among the world's
most unusually conceived, and lavish inland
resorts.
2 Pilanesberg
National Park: Some two hours' drive northwest
of Johannesburg, one of the strangest of Southern
Africa's geological features raises skywards
from the flat Highveld plain. The Pilanesberg,
today one of the subcontinent's premier tourist
attractions, is the product of Operation Genesis,
launched in 1979 and rated among the most imaginative
of the world's gamestocking enterprises.
3 Madikwe
Game Reserve: The Madikwe Game Reserve belongs
to the latest park developments in South Africa.
It was opened in 1991 and comprises 75000 hectares
of bush land |
north of the small
town Groot-Marico up to the Botswana border.
It is currently the fourth largest game reserve
in South Africa and one of the best-kept secrets.

Taung: "The Place of the Lion" – is internationally
known as the site where the 150 million year
old Taung skull was found and recognised as
an important link in the development of the
human species.
5 Kuruman:
Known as the oasis of the Khalahari this town
is blessed with a permanent source of water.
Some attractions include, Die Oog (The Eye),
a natural fountain that delivers 20-30 million
liters of crystal clear water every day, a bird
sanctuary, and the Kuruman hiking trail for
nature lovers.

Lesedi Cultural Village: Lesedi is a
multicultural village set amongst the pristine
bushveld and rocky hills less than an hour’s
drive from Johannesburg. Situated at Lesedi
are four traditional homesteads – the Zulus
with their fighting sticks,, the Xhosa with

| their
distinctive white blankets, the rhythmic drums
and whistles of the Pedi tribe and the straw
hats and thick, colored blankets of the
Basotho.

Mafikeng: Situated next to Mmabatho,
the vibrant provincial capital of the North
West Province, Mafikeng has an interesting history,
rich culture and wildlife variety. The name
Mafikeng means "place among the rocks". |
8 The De Wildt Cheetah Farm:
This centre was established in 1971 with the
aim of breeding endangered species. Its major
achievement is the successful breeding of what
was once a threatened species, the cheetah (Acinonyx
jubatus). Over the years, nearly 600 cheetah
cubs have been born at De Wildt.
